This week there are several great creative writing events in Rochdale as well as our own weekly Riverside Writers session. Here are the details in brief:
Monday 2nd February, Northern Rascals, 5pm to 6.30pm, Rochdale
Northern Rascals are bringing a special creative session to Richard Street Studios on Monday and have invited members and followers of Riverside Writers to attend. The session titled “Coiners” is a great chance to explore the folk stories that shape who we are through creative writing – including tales passed down through families and the legends rooted in our communities.
This session is free of charge and will include an optional warm up, group discussions and creative writing. All ages are welcome. To book a place please go to Northern Rascals website CLICK HERE
Tuesday 3rd February, 6pm to 8pm – Poetry Café – Littleborough
Our monthly Poetry Café, open mic style event, returns on Tuesday at the ever popular Coffee on the Corner in Littleborough. You can expect to hear a wide variety of poetry in a friendly and supportive atmosphere and everyone is welcome to read a poem of their own or a favourite – just ask Seamus to add you to the list when you arrive.
The event is free but please purchase drinks, and perhaps some of the excellent home made cakes to support the café who support us by providing this lovely venue.
Wednesday 4th February, 1.10pm to 3.10pm – Heywood Scribblers – Heywood
The Heywood Scribblers, led by Heywood poet and writer Katie Haigh, will meet in Heywood Library for this monthly creative writing session. All are welcome to join the group and you can expect plenty of inspiration and creative writing exercises. Please note the start and finish times that are designed to fit around school collection times.
Thursday 5th February, 10am to 12noon – Riverside Writers session – Rochdale
This Riverside Writers weekly session will be led by our founder and awesome poet Eileen Earnshaw. As always we meet in Rochdale Central Library, Number One Riverside and anyone aged 18+ is welcome to join us, no need to book just come along and say hello. The group is friendly and supportive and there is no pressure to share unless you want to.
Our sessions are free of charge but we do welcome voluntary donations of £2 towards the cost of running the group.
Thursday 5th February, 2pm to 4pm – Number One Writers – Rochdale
The number One Writers workshop this month will be led by Rochdale poet and writer Seamus Kelly. The group meet in Rochdale Central Library, Number One Riverside and all aged 18+ is welcome, no need to book.
The theme for the session will be “Into the Woods” with plenty of scope for memories, stories and even fairytales.
You can expect to be inspired and your thoughts to be provoked with plenty of chance to write and share you work in your preferred style or genre. The sessions are supportive and friendly and suitable for new writers or those who have lots of experience.
Number One Writers sessions are free of charge but optional donations of £2 towards the cost of running the group are welcome.
