Riverside Writers – Thursday 13th August
This week the Riverside Writers session, 10am to 12noon, in Rochdale Central Library, Number One Riverside, will be led by Mark Rothwell. The session will be took at ways of understanding all forms of creative art and will draw inspiration and discussion from various pieces with plenty of opportunities to write and share your work.
Riverside Writers’ sessions are free of charge and there is no need to book, just come along with something to write with and your imagination.

One of the van Gogh’s, rooks over a cornfield series, was thought to be one of his last paintings. Years ago I wrote a Radio 3, 60′ play based around Renoir’s, LUNCHEON OF THE BOATING PARTY. I created a story for the character with the straw hat on the left of the painting. I called him Metoikos. T.S. Eliot often signed his name, Metoikos, Greek for, resident alien, which is how Eliot felt about himself as an American living so long in England.
Francis Bacon believed that when one stood infront of a painting there was nothing one could say. The communication was purely visual, it was beyond verbal language. I’m not sure that’s true. Is it?
