Poetry Café
Tuesday 2nd December, 6pm to 8pm, Coffee on the Corner, Littleborough
On Tuesday evening the Poetry Café, open mic event, returns to the excellent Coffee on the Corner in Littleborough. This will be our last session here before Christmas so we might expect the odd early seasonal poem, but as always it is the variety and quality of poetry shared that makes the evening such a success….
that, and the delicious cakes and range of beverages of sale in the café.
If you’d like to read just let Seamus or Liz know and you’ll be added to the list for the evening.
This is a free event but please support our hosts at the venue by purchasing drinks and a cake.
The Legend of Krampus
Thursday 4th December, 10am-12noon, Rochdale Central Library
This week Ray Stearn will lead a workshop using Krampus to help inspire our writing. Krampus originates from the Germanic countries of Europe and is the counterpoint companion to St Nicholas. To know more just come along to Ray’s session.
A word of warning; Krampus is reputed to visit writing groups and take away those who have not been writing, and to whip those who have copied other’s work….
As always anyone aged 18+ is welcome to attend our sessions, no need to book, just come along with imagination and writing material.
Number One Writing Group – Sammy Weaver
Thursday 4th December, 2pm to 4pm, Rochdale Central Library
This month the Number One Writers will feature a workshop from Rochdale’s Poet Laureate, Sammy Weaver.
In a warm and welcoming space, Sammy will lead a series of inspiring exercises to unlock our understandings of memory, place and connection. We will journey between the real and imagined, creating new poems of empowerment, reflection and resilience. All levels including beginners welcome.
Participants will have the chance to submit their poems for an anthology celebrating Rochdale’s Year of Culture.
The workshop is funded through Lottery Project grants from Arts Council England, and delivered by Rochdale Borough Libraries and Rochdale Development Agency.
