Riverside Writers Workshop – Crystal
Thursday 30th April, Rochdale Central Library, 10am to 12noon – Free
This week Seamus Kelly will be leading a workshop entitled Crystal. Apart from it’s chemical and physical meaning Crystal is very much associated with Clarity.
In this session we will look at, and get to try, some of the tips and techniques to make sure our writing is clear for others to understand. Clarity feels important when you get those confusing letters asking you to attend for medical appointments. It is just as important when creating new poems, stories, scripts, dialogues and even comedy. Sometimes in comedy you need crystal clear ambiguity. Whatever you write this session will help (if you want to be understood).
There will be plenty of chance to write and to share your work in the session.
As always Riverside Writers sessions are free of charge and are open to anyone aged 18+, no need to book.
Poetry Café, Littleborough – Advanced notice
Tuesday 5th May, 6pm to 8pm, Coffee on the Corner – Free
Next week on Tuesday evening we will be hosting another of our monthly open-mic style events at Coffee on the Corner in Littleborough. All are welcome either to read/perform or to listen to what is always a great range of poetry from our talented poets. The event is free of charge but please support the café and Gemma who provide the venue by buying hot or cold drinks and perhaps some of their lovely home made cakes.
If you would like to read your work, or other favourite poems, please ask Seamus to add you to the list on arrival.
Rochdale Writes – New Online Writing Group – Advanced notice
Tuesday 12th May – Online only – Free
A new, twice monthly online creative writing group will launch in May with the first session on 12th May from 6.30pm and finishing by 8pm. This initial session, led by Seamus Kelly, will include some creative writing exercises as well as the chance to get to know fellow participants.
Future sessions will be held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evening of each month. The group will be open to all aged 18+ and preference may be given to those unable to travel and to those living in Rochdale Borough and surrounding areas.
The session will run on Zoom and can be accesses on computer, tablet or phone through your browser.
If you would like to join us please email Seamus on info@rochdalewrites.co.uk and an invitation link will be sent to you before the session.
