The first week of March is another one full of creative writing opportunities and events.
Tuesday 3rd, 6pm to 8pm – Poetry Café, Coffee on the Corner, Littleborough
A welcoming and supportive open mic style evening with great poetry and atmosphere. The event is free so please support our venue by purchasing some of their excellent home made cakes and something to drink.
No need to book, just come along and if you’d like to read let Seamus or Liz know when you arrive.
Wednesday 4th, 1.10pm to 3.10pm, Heywood Scribblers, Heywood Library
This month guest facilitator Seamus Kelly will lead a session called ‘Birdlore’ – a mix of birds, folklore, mythology and your own ideas is sure to get the creative juices flowing.
No need to book, just join us in the library.
Thursday 5th, 10am to 12noon, Riverside Writers, Rochdale Central Library
Ray Stearn will be leading a workshop titled ‘The Mighty Oak’ taking inspiration from John Lewis Stemple’s book ‘The Glorious Life or the Oak. There will be poetry, folklore, history and lots to talk and write about.
No need to book, just come along with your notebook f0r 10am.
Thursday 5th, 2pm to 4pm, Number One Writing Group, Rochdale Central Library
This month’s session led by Ray Stearn is all about ‘Spring‘. Expect plenty of thoughts about the season but of course other meanings of the word spring will be very welcome. Should be a great afternoon session – hope springs eternal.
No need to book, just come along to the library with your writing materials, and a £2 donation towards the Number One Writing Group’s running costs.
Thursday 5th, 7pm to 8.30pm, Say It Out Lopud, Middleton Library
the forth in a series of poetry events hosted by Sammy Weaver, Rochdale Poet Laureate, this one features Eileen Earnshaw and Katie Haigh and promises to be a great evening. Also performing on the evening will be The Chubby Northerner, Thomas M Ryan and Sean Cooney (songwriter and writer of Peter’s Filed).
