The Raven – creative writing workshop, and Poetry Café

Rochdale Central Library, Number One Riverside, Rochdale

On the day before Halloween it feels appropriate to look at the Raven.

Sketch of a raven on a dead tree branchWe will look at the classic, dark, poem by Edgar Allen Poe and plenty of other historical and mythological references to the raven, the largest and cleverest of the corvids. There will be plenty of chance to write your own stories or poems on the theme of the raven and to share what we have written.

Halloween is the night before All Hallows which is also the day before All Souls and apart from the modern, largely American, traditions around Halloween these are significant religious holidays in much of the world.

All aged 18+ are welcome to attend our sessions, there is no need to book, just bring along something to write with and your imagination.

 

Poetry Café – Coffee on the Corner, Littleborough

Tuesday 4th November, 6pm to 8pm

Tuesday next week sees the monthly open mic poetry evening in Littleborough. Last month we had an amazing turnout with 15 people reading poetry during the evening and as always the variety and quality were excellent.

Poetry Café is a free event open to all and is hosted by Seamus Kelly and Liz White with the venue courtesy of Coffee on the Corner.
