This Thursday is National Poetry Day and the theme this year is “Play”.
In a workshop from Seamus Kelly with Ray Stearn we will look into play – there are lots of possibilities (and we don’t have to stick to poems) – broad games, from snakes and ladders to family strife around Monopoly, card games etc. The ancients sometimes thought the gods played with the people on earth like pawns in a big game of chess, trying to outdo each other. We also play musical instruments, records, sports etc.
We will have lots of inspiration and ideas to write and share. Of course we could just play scrabble or Monopoly.
As always our session runs from 10am to 12noon in Rochdale Central Library, at Number One Riverside, and is open to anyone aged 18+ – just bring your imagination and something to write with.
Also this Thursday – On The Dark Side
Number One Writers hold their monthly creative writing workshop from 2pm to 4pm in Rochdale Central Library.
The facilitator will be Seamus Kelly who says “As we are heading into Autumn, darker nights, and soon Halloween, I thought that for the Number One Writers session I might lead a “On the Dark Side”.
