Schools reopen and following a great visit to Chetham’s Library yesterday the Riverside Writers return to our weekly creative writing session in Rochdale Central Library every Thursday morning from 10am to 12noon.

On Thursday 4th September Seamus Kelly will be running a workshop entitled “Fantastical” where we will be taking inspiration from a range pictures drawn by well known writers as part of their creative practice.

Number One Writing Group

On Thursday afternoon, 4th September from 2pm to 4pm, Seamus will be delivering a workshop entitled “In their own hand” looking at the creative processes of famous writers and the benefits and reasons for writing by hand as part of the process.

There will be plenty of opportunity to create new pieces inspired by their practice.

Changing Landscapes

Friday 5th September sees the first of five sessions in Littleborough where participants will create poetry that will be published in an anthology themed on the changing landscapes in our local area. The project is organised by Liz White – lizwhitecreative@gmail.com and the workshops led by Seamus Kelly – seamus@onepoetsvision.co.uk

There is a charge of £25 that covers the five sessions and a copy of the anthology when published. There may still be a place left if you email Liz on the above link.

Poetry Café – Littleborough

On Tuesday evening, 2nd September from 6pm to 8pm, the monthly Poetry Café event returns to Coffee on the Corner in Littleborough. This is relaxed and friendly open mic style event in a lovely café where a range of hot drinks and wine will be available. This is a free event and we would encourage those coming along to support the café owners by purchasing drinks and perhaps a slice of their excellent home made cakes.

If you want to read your poetry please let Seamus or Liz know on arrival. There is always a great range of poetry and we love to hear new poets and equally welcome those who want to come along and listen.
