Chethams Library Visit

Next Thursday – 28th August 2025

Instead of meeting in the library the Riverside Writers are heading to Manchester for a tour of the famous Chethams Library. On the tour we can learn about the history of the library and explore some of the rooms and view the collections.

This is absolutely stunning library based in one of the oldest parts of Manchester is the oldest free public library in the English speaking world operating for over 350 years. The library has associations with many famous names including Marx and Engles who studied at the library before creating their Communist Manifesto.

Although admission is free of charge we do need to know numbers for tickets so if you will be joining us please let Eileen Earnshaw know or contact me, Seamus Kelly, at info@riversidewriters.org.uk

Meet at 10.50 at the library entrance which is a very short walk from Victoria Station.

In September the group will return to our weekly creative writing workshops in Rochdale Central Library at Number One Riverside, Rochdale. Details of the workshops will be posted here ahead of each session.
